Settlements in northwest Iceland are few and far between, usually focus on fishing and are the height of Scandinavian cool and cosmopolitan. On our second day we found ourselves skiing above Dalvik and Siglufjördur, the only signs of modernity in an otherwise ancient and primeval landscape.
