Sixth-generation Vermonter Kristi Lovell is the only tester to have skied the sand dunes of Namibia (for a South American cigarette commercial). She grew up in Brandon, Vt., skiing first at now-defunct High Pond Ski Area and then in race programs at Pico Ski Club and Killington Mountain School. She raced at UVM (“I was the one they counted on to finish when the fast girls fell”) and then moved to Colorado, working as a sponsored freerider. She organized the original Völkl Carver Girls team in the ’90s before managing the Salomon apparel athlete team. She now lives in Stowe with three adorable daughters and still brings it at the Ski Bum Races.
