Best Eastern Skis: Mixed Snow
No. 6 (T): Volkl Kendo

MSRP: $775.00

Tip/Waist/Tail: 126-89-110

Length: 163, 170, 177, 184

If "Mixed Snow East" to you means different shades of ice, fear not on the Kendo. Bring strength and energy to it, because no tester found it to be especially forgiving, but count on its metal-reinforced, vertical-sidewall construction and traditional-camber feel to bite and hold on hardpack. (Its tip rocker barely registered with testers.) Only a narrower ski could beat it on Hard Snow (No. 2). And when the snow does fall back East, an 89-mm waist won't leave you with that sinking feeling. "Strong, aggressive, intimidated by nothing."
