Presidential Peaks
Mt. Adams, Washington
Photo: SigmaEye via Flickr

Deep within North America's Cascade Range lies Mount Adams, a potentially active stratovolcano named after our second president, John Adams. Standing 12,276 feet, this is the second-highest peak in the state of Washington. The east side is a reserve for the Yakima Tribe, but the west side is open to hiking, backpacking and mountain climbing.
