For whatever reasons, there’s a surprising dearth of slopeside lodging at New Hampshire resorts. Not so at family-friendly, view-rich Attitash. “We stayed at the hotel right across the street,” one reader notes. “Just walk through the tunnel and, bam, you’re there.” And Attitash fans also like having two mountains to choose from, the original Attitash, with classic narrow trails, and adjacent Bear Peak, with wider boulevards. Readers still complain that the lifts could use some updating. “Riding the triple is grueling,” says one. But for the most part they like what the new owners have done—especially the fact they bought nearby Wildcat and now offer an interchangeable lift ticket good at both areas. Dining and nightlife options are limited at Attitash proper, but North Conway, a short drive away, abounds with both in addition to its famous outlet shopping. And up on the hill, you get views of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range, with plenty of elbow room too. “Crowds aren’t ever bad, even on the busy weekends and holidays,” says one reader. “Good family-friendly hill with a hometown feel.”
