Look for gear stores that have a used or consignment section to them. If you’re in the Tahoe area, try the Truckee Gear Exchange on West River Street (downstairs is a traditional shop, but go upstairs and you’ll find used gear for cheap). If you’re in Burlington, Vermont, try the Outdoor Gear Exchange. Both of those stores also offer online clearance sales for shoppers located anywhere. Or, if you're in Boulder, Colorado, try the Boulder Sports Recycler, which gets gear donated from more than 15,000 gear heads.
