Summer Hiking in the Mountains
Beaver Creek's Royal Elk Trail
Photo: Beaver Creek Resort

This hike can range in difficulty and length, depending on your preferences. For the basic 6-mile-long trail, start in the Beaver Creek Village and take the chairlift up to the summit. From there, hike down to Beaver Lake while traversing some of the mountain’s most difficult ski terrain. For those who aren’t expert skiers, this hike gives visitors a view of some of the black and double black diamond runs on the mountain, as well as the site of North America’s World Cup course. If you want to extend your hike, start in the village, skip the chairlift, and complete the loop on foot, or you can continue the last leg of your hike on to Beaverhead Gulch or Arrowhead Village.
