Where: Salmo River Ranch, Kootenay Mountain Range, B.C.
When: August 6–9
Surround sound: Last year, B.C.’s little secret got nominated as one of the world’s best dance festivals. The electronic music extravaganza, located at a working farm, has grown from 500 to 10,000 devotees. Get in the zone with the summer anthem “Get Free” (Major Lazer featuring Amber of Dirty Projectors). Must-have festival gear includes body paint, safety pins and LED glowsticks.
Front row: Six stages, all on Shambhala time—from noon to noon.
Cozy up: Camp all around the farm and set up your own open-air living room.
Greenbacks: Tickets sold out, but you can still get your hands on ShambhaLodging packages (entry, camping plus parking).
Don’t miss: The Fractal Forest, where DJ’s play out of an old cedar tree stump in the heart of the woods, surrounded by dancers. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a roving gnome.
