"I always try to give the viewer a sense of place. With this image I was able to portray the best of Eastern tree skiing¿the hardwoods, the steep and narrow but skiable line¿on a powder day. We had just gotten 10 inches of fresh snow, so I went out with the intention of focusing on that. Then we came across this line in The Face. To catch the trees all rimed up and covered in snow isn't that common an occurrence because the wind blows hard on this exposure, so I took advantage of that and used the trees to frame the photo."
