Warren Miller Entertainment's Flow State: Behind The Scenes
Look Out Below
Photo: Alex Witkowicz

A few days into the first week of shooting, the crew found themselves and their boat stuck in an iceflow. Nothing to do but wait for the blocks of ice to give way, so photographer Alex Witkowicz had the others hoist him up the mast to get a birds-eye view of the surrounding landscape. On this particular night, each member of the crew was assigned a one-hour polar bear watch. The bears like to leapfrog from ice sheet to ice sheet in search of seals or other morsels and have been known to scavange aboard ice-locked ships.
