Where to Stay: Vail, Colo.
What's New in Vail

By Samantha Berman

Vail needs a breather. Given the pace of development that has defined the town for the past decade, this season’s relative peace and quiet on the lodging front is warranted. Since 2004, the town has seen remodels and new hotels numbering 20, from the grand and highly anticipated Four Seasons Resort, Ritz-Carlton Residences, and Solaris Residences in 2010 to smaller properties like the Willows, which opened in 2008. The remodel scene has enjoyed boom times as well. In 2006 alone, the Tivoli got a complete makeover and the iconic Sonnenalp took on 29 more rooms and suites. As ski resorts go, few offer as modern a lodging portfolio as this one.

Here are three different options that have one thing in common: Each is a fine place to hang your lid.
