There's no such thing as the wrong conditions if you've got the right gear. Stay a step ahead of nature with SKI's Guide to Dressing Smart. Check out the articles below for more outfits.

Powder Male

Why worry about snow in unwanted places when you're skiing powder? Plan ahead with the Arc'teryx Sidewinder SV jacket ($499). Gore-Tex XCR material, a watertight front zip, a powder skirt and laminated dry cuffs keep snow under your skis, not your clothes. With the Minuteman bib ($375), internal powder cuffs bar snow from your boots, while quick-adjust suspenders keep your pants high-and dry.

Base layer Made from ultrafine Merino wool, Ibex Woolies (top $56, bottoms $54) feel as soft as cotton (no itching) but help regulate temperature naturally. Their form-fitting design hugs your body for warmth and comfort. And unlike a lot of wool garments, you can machine-wash them at day's end.

Sunglasses The Panoptx Diablo CV ($145) is all about options. Pop out the foam eyecup for a regular sunglass or leave it in for a goggle-like seal. Then adjust the temples to one of five positions for a perfect fit.

Helmet The one-of-a-kind Boeri Tactic ($135) is the first snowsports helmet to combine an in-mold shell (read: lightweight comfort) with hard-shell reinforcements (read: extra protection). Add adjustable vents and a removable ear- and neck-liner and you've got the perfect partner for powder.

Gloves Think leather and water don't mix? Grandoe's WaterBlock makes leather water-repellent -with no loss of warmth. The Half and Half glove ($70) sports a leather palm and fingers; the rest is a durable blend that sheds water like a rain slicker.
