1) R.E.D. TANTRUM AUDEX $250; REDPROTECTION.COM
On-mountain music listeners will dig the Tantrum's removable, DJ-style Motorola headphones and glove-friendly sound controls. (Cool, convenient function: There's a MUTE button on the side of the helmet.) The Tantrum is Bluetooth-equipped for hands-free yapping—should chairlift ADD get the best of you.

2) MARKER M3 AUDIORAMA DELUXE$245; MARKERUSA.COM
Headphones and Bluetooth equipment are built into the Audiorama Deluxe. There's also an input device for an Ortovox avalanche beacon, so you won't confuse the sound of your transceiver with another searcher's device. Just be sure to turn down your music.

3) BOERI TACTIC $180 with speakers, $140 without; BOERIUSA.COM
A draw-cord retention system cinches tight for a cozy fit, and three easy-to-grasp vent-control switches can be quickly adjusted with gloves on.

4) GIRO G10 $150 with speakers, $120 without; GIRO.COM
Giro makes helmets for cyclists, too, which might explain why the G10 barely tips the scal—it weighs 9 ounces. Six adjustable vents (it has 14 total) allow you to warm or cool your head as needed. Six sizes keep that skull comfortably wrapped.

5) CARRERA AIRSTREAM$140; CARRERASPORT.COM
The Airstream's two front vents line up with the vents atop the Conan goggle (above right), so fog gets sucked up into the helmet and out the back. A rotating wheel on the back of the lid regulates airflow, and the mesh liner is washable.
