K2 is interviewing for new ski designers. Job requirements: ability to ski thousands of vertical feet of untracked powder in British Columbia’s Monashee Mountains, then talk about skis while eating like a king and hanging at the bar. Successful applicants must be comfortable with helicopter transportation.

Think you’re qualified? No, K2 designer Anthony DeRocco hasn’t lost his job. And no, it’s not a paying gig—except for the new pair of skis you get. It’s part of a cool cross-promotion between Seattle-based K2 and Banff, B.C.–based CMH Heli Skiing.

But K2 is serious about wanting input from CMH clients signed up for the March 13-20 session at CMH’s Monashee Lodge. (Take it from us: of all CMH lodges, this is the nicest, newest one—and arguably the one with the most exciting terrain.) Guests will try a variety of prototypes, and K2 will use the feedback to fine-tune final designs for mass production. Full rocker? Shovel rocker? Reverse sidecut? With so many different approaches to powder-ski design out there, it’s hard to know what’s best. This will be a rare chance to try a lot of different approaches, with suitable powder virtually guaranteed, as well as an interesting focus-group opportunity for K2.

Naturally, it ain’t cheap: $10,400 per person, based on double-occupancy.  But K2 is giving away a trip to one lucky buyer of its Darkside Model. And if you prefer to save some money and at least partially earn your turns, there’s K2/CMH a heli-assisted ski touring week as well (April 10-17, $3,700).
