Atomic Alibi (2013)
Tester's Review
How wide is an everyday all-mountain ski these days? Atomic's new Vantage series starts at 87 mm. The Alibi, at 98 mm, is second widest. In the extra-competitive Mixed West, testers were picking nits, dinging it for un-Atomic-like indifference on hard snow, where its broad, smeary shovel is a bit of a liability. But throw some powder at it and the Alibi comes to life equal parts smooth, playful, and gutsy. "A great Western ski with a preference for loose snow." NOTES: Atomic's Vantage series uses a rocker/camber blend, step down sidewalls, and an integrated "backbone" for maximum versatility on all snow conditions. The Alibi has a 98-millimeter waist and an integrated Ti backbone for lightweight edge hold in a variety of terrain
