Atomic Metron 7 (2007)

Atomic Metron 7 (2007)

Pro If you’re still afraid of a little ice, you could always move to Utah. Or you could buy a pair of Metron 7s, which led this category in Hard-Snow Grip. Testers agree: The latter is easier. But while tenacious edge-grip is usually the mark of an unforgiving construction best left to experts, the Metron puts the lie to that notion. It’s easygoing, works well at low speeds, even skids a turn as readily as it carves. That’s no accident. Atomic worked hard to lighten and soften this model. There’s no metal, and the carbon weave that reinforces the Beta core lightens the load. That said, the Metron was still a particular favorite of our bigger testers. Like DelliQuadri: "Nicely balanced, easy to turn—a ski that will show you the way to carved turns." Con Too hefty and precise to excel in powder.
