Atomic Polarity (2014)
An 83-mm waist makes the Polarity the likeliest choice among Vantage women's skis for the Eastern/hard-snow all-mountain skier. Like the men's Rival, with which it shares the same shape and rocker profile, it features a simpler, more economical version of Atomic's Step-Down Sidewall construction than the Elysian and Supreme, with a one-piece sidewall instead of two-piece. Atomic's Women's Vantage series includes three models ranging in width from 95 mm down to 83. Where the Women's Powder series includes wide rides for deep snow and the Women's Affinity series offers narrow-waisted system skis for on-trail performance, the Vantage skis split the difference in the name of all-terrain versatility. Not as loose and drifty as the Powder skis or as tight and carvy as the Affinity skis, they're built to meet the day-to-day needs of a soft-snow (most likely Western) resort skier with a blend of powder and hardpack performance. All are sold flat (no binding).
