Blizzard Magnum 8.1 IQ Max (2012)

Blizzard Magnum 8.1 IQ Max (2012)
Gold Medal Gear
Tester's Review

The slop-free integration of binding and ski continues to define the Magnum series. Blizzard's IQ interface -in combination with a sturdy wood-core, metal-reinforced, laminate construction-offers excellent edge-power, as reflected by the Magnum 8.1's rankings for Hard-Snow Grip (No. 3) and Stability (No. 4). There are "easier" skis in the category (modest tip rise notwithstanding), but for those who know what to do with it, it's stable, smooth, confident at speed. "Smooth and stable, well suited to fast, strong skiers," said Moffatt. Sold with binding for $1,100 or with a slider plate that accommodates any binding-AT, tele included-for $850.
