Dynastar Legend Sultan 80 (2010)
Here’s a category-defining blend of performance and forgiveness. The performance is up front—a broad tip that hooks up at the barest hint of edge angle. The forgiveness is the tail, which skids off speed readily, not insisting you finish every turn like a slalom ace. And that 80-mm platform, so easy to balance on, is just plain comfortable—not to mention ready for powder days. It’s quick, it’s snappy, and it never talks back. “Supports you through the whole turn into the next,” said Sabanosh.

4 stars. This ski is a quite versatile and should appeal to a broad range of skiers. Coming from a legend 8000, I found this ski to be much more forgiving, yet just as fun. In a word-EASY!, good in bumps and powder, but will also carve nice turns on the steeps. The legend handles high speeds a little better, but I found that this ski is so easy to turn and much more versatile than the 8000.
One of the best bargain skis I have ever come across.
