Elan 777 (2009)

Elan 777 (2009)

The Slovenian love of skiing comes through in Elan's Freeride series. With its damp power, the Triple 7 is similar to the 888 or the 999, which are bigger but similarly good. All are classic constructions: wood core, metal, stout sidewalls. The 777 flows down the hill, smoothing whatever terrain it encounters. It likes speed, and heavier experts will get the most out of it. "Nice hefty feel that inspires you to just blast through anything," said Schoff.

Best For

Attacking crud, bombing soft groomers

Not For

A tentative, hesitant style
