Pro AMC stands for All-Mountain Cross, a collection of skis built for versatility. Experts have a choice at the top end. The AMC 79 ($1,150) is wider, straighter and oriented to softer snow, but it’s hard to imagine a more useful tool for everyday skiing than the 76. Its metal reinforcement gives it Fischer-like calm and edge-grip, and its shapely sidecut begs you to arc it up on groomers. And while it favors medium-radius turns at speed, it did anything testers asked of it, and wasn’t too wide or burly for bumps. Eastern freeriders, especially, will be happy with the 76’s mix of hard- and soft-snow performance. "It’s quick when you need it to be, but nice and stable at speed," said Rogan. "And forgiving: It’s always willing to help." Con A little too precise and powerful for everyday soft-snow use.
