Fischer Rangi 88 (2007)

Fischer Rangi 88 (2007)

Pro In no one criterion did the Rangi put up the top score, but it was second in several, including Balance of Skills and Overall Impression. That tells you a lot about its versatility. Few skis are better equipped to handle a winter’s worth of snow conditions. Ice might be a challenge, but the Rangi handles anything else, from set-up crud to bottomless powder, with confidence and verve. It’s a wood-core, carbon-reinforced laminate construction, with a turned-up tail that adds forgiveness to its turn finishes. Above all, testers said, it surfs and floats through deep fluff with the poise of a sophisticated powder ski. "A quick, fun ski," said Hopkins. "The length (168 cm, the only length available) seemed short, but that’d make it a great choice for a less confident powder skier." Con Can’t do it all: Hard snow/ice knocks it off its game.
