Goode Opus (2012)
With its 82 waist, the Opus will still prefer hard, flat snow, but it has just enough waist to keep it from feeling too edgy or trenching too deeply in soft snow-perfect for soft groomers or spring corn, East or West. Slight rocker in the tip is designed to improve flotation slightly and make the ski easier to turn and more forgiving. All of Goode's women's skis employ deep sidecuts (11Ð13 meters; same sidecuts as the men's skis, but the radii are exaggerated in shorter lengths). So they should be eager carvers and especially well suited to short arcs and quick, lively turns. Construction: wood core with all-carbon-fiber torsion box. Goode made a radical change in its layups for 2012, going with wood, instead of foam, for all of its cores. Testers were greatly impressed by the difference in performance, enjoying the extra heft of wood-core Goodes, which have improved tracking and stability but retain the quickness of carbon-construction.
