The Venturi is built to deliver surfy, newschool-style soft-snow performance like the wider models in the Freeski line, but in a waist width (95 mm) better suited to skiers who know they'll ski as much hardpack as powder. Owing to its relative narrowness, it's less expensive to build, and will sell for around $500 (flat). The four-model Freeski collection features powder-ready skis ranging in waist widths from 125 mm (Turbine) down to 95 mm (Venturi). All models feature camber underfoot for hardsnow carvability. Wider skis in the line offer progressively more pronounced tip and tail rocker for flotation and smeariness in powder. Less rocker is implemented in the narrower models for more conventional all-terrain versatility. To save weight in skis this wide, Head builds all Flight Series with fiberglass reinforcement only (no metal). All feature Head's Sandwich Cap Construction, which features low sidewalls for positive edging, tempered by a more forgiving cap construction on top. All models feature TTS, or Tip and Tail Stabilizer System. It's the distinctive exoskeletal structure of the Flight series models, with raised ribs placed so as to prevent twisting. This allows the thickness of the ski to be reduced at the extremities, thus reducing swing weight. Rubber is also incorporated into the TTS structure to dampen vibrations and reduce the "tip flap" that often occurs with rockered tips. The result, Head says, is positive tip-to-tail edge engagement throughout the turn. All Head Freeski Series models are sold flat (no binding).
