K2 Empress (2014)
The Empress isn't a kids' ski, but it's almost priced like one. Buyers can expect to find it for about $300 in many shops. (It's only sold flat.) It's part of the Women's Park/Pipe series of athlete-inspired, youth-driven twintips. K2 builds it with a traditional taper shape (wider tip than tail) for all-mountain versatility, but sees it spending the majority of its time in the park. It's a metal-free, wood-core, women's-specific K2 Bioflex2 construction, with aspen underfoot (70 percent) for strength and responsiveness and paulownia (30 percent) tip and tail for softer flex and reduced swing weight. It's park-specific flex pattern is relatively soft tip and tail and stiff underfoot. K2's Jib Rocker combines symmetrical rocker tip and tail with zero camber underfoot for easy spinning from forward to switch and back.
