K2 Sight (2013)
The Sight is the least expensive all-mountain ski in K2's Factory Team series of athlete-inspired, youth-driven twintips. With its traditional all-mountain shape and 85 waist, it's a logical choice as a versatile daily driver for East Coast freeriders. It's available flat or pre-drilled with sturdy binding insert rings to accept the 10-DIN Marker Squire Schizo binding, which allows on-hill switching of mounting point over a 6 cm range. With binding, its MSRP is $660, so buyers can expect to find it for under $600 in aggressive shops. It's a metal-free wood-core (aspen) construction with TwinTech sidewalls, which are beveled inward at the top to protect them from damage caused by the opposite ski's edge. K2's All-Terrain Rocker combines 70 percent camber with 30 percent tip/shovel rocker to smooth the ride, enhance forgiveness and improve soft-snow flotation. Tip and tail hardware is removable, and the holes readily accept trim-to-fit K2 skins for touring. As with all Factory Team skis, the edges are extra thick (3.5 mm) for enhanced durability, and the base graphic is as cool as the topsheet.
