K2 SpYne 90 (2014)

K2 SpYne 90 (2014)
Tester's Review

This boot is a darn snug 102 (especially in the ankle pockets) and a pretty tough 90 flex. In fact, our testers judged it medium-wide and pegged the flex closer to 115. They called it “a perfect little accident” for skiers looking for that combo. Expected to “street price” at $400, this was one of the top value boots in our test. The well-balanced K2 boot geometry was at the heart of its success. Testers consistently mentioned standing right where they wanted to be on their ski. They were impressed with how hard it ripped and there was nary a “but…” on any test form about its performance. It did garner some fit demerits. The cuff is a touch low, the shin fit was a little abrupt and testers experienced a few minor pressure points here and there. But keep in mind that the K2 EVA foam-based liner construction responds well to heat molding, so these issues will probably go away in a hot flash. Tester Comments: "Relaxed and balanced stance. Fits, looks and skis like its bigger brothers." "Everything is good about K2's wide boot—except that it competes with K2's medium."
