Kastle LX82 (2012)
Tester's Review
A standout in Stability and Crud, the LX 82 is utterly unflappable. Think you're on hardpack? It hungers for harder, and makes even double-diamond bulletproof beg for mercy. (It is a unisex model-the only one in this category.) The kicker, though, is that it's so smooth, balanced, versatile, predictable and lightweight, it also earned a no. 1 in Forgiveness, which means meat-of-the-market skiers can share in the enlightenment. The secret is the LX's construction: A lightweight silver fir wood core is sandwiched between two sheets of Titanal, and then wrapped in a load-bearing cap that adds torsional rigidity. "Everything is engineered just right," said Moscarella. Sold flat.
PRICE (MSRP): $999.00
