Lange Comp 120 Freeride (2006)
Give it this: The FR looks cool. And who doesn't want a cool-looking boot? Lange's new Endo Tech molding system sandwiches the bold "Lange" graphic between layers of transparent plastic. The FR differs from the blue Comp 120 in subtle ways: Its lower cuff height makes it feel softer, and its cushier bootboard absorbs impact. Like the 120 and the 100 (see AMC) it also features replaceable toe and heel lugs that are angled at 1.5 degrees-in or out. They're a poor-man's approach to canting, a bootfitter's fix that often makes a drastic difference. But unlike grinding your boot soles, it's reversible. Hogen calls the FR "trustworthy. You can really lean into the turn, early and hard."
PRICE (MSRP): $750.00
