Lange CRL 90 (2006)
A ringer in the category? The fit of the racy-red CRL 90 is more precise and entry/exit more difficult than other Aspiring Expert boots, but the flip side is improved steering. That explains why testers give the 90 a high Overall Impression score, despite lower marks elsewhere. The 90W is a good choice for women with its lower, scalloped cuff, which eliminates pressure points on the back of the leg. A freeride version features a lower, softer-flexing cuff. The CRL features Lange's Custom Air Concept, a superior heat-moldability technology. It's a simple, five-minute process, but it yields a remarkably accurate fit. "A superb feel all the way around," says Ross.
PRICE (MSRP): $495.00
