Last year, the Victory medaled at the top of the Freeride category. This year, Speed. What does that tell you? That the paradigm is shifting, and this is one well-built ski. Powerful, aggressive, stable as it gets, the Victory is fast but never touchy; grippy but never hooky; solid but never unresponsive. Experts will feel instantly comfortable ripping GS turns on steeps, or jumping into a sun-crusted chute: It stays stuck to the snow no matter what. “Powerful without feeling punishing,” Thys said.
