Brighton Brighton forms the end of Big Cottonwood Canyon, with lifts to the tops of four peaks set in a half-circle. You can use the resort's many faces and exposures to your advantage, looking for the best snow conditions and light.

Your two quickest ways out of the base area are on the Great Western and Crest high-speed quads. Great Western, the lift farthest to your left as you look up the hill, accesses more than a dozen named trails, most of them wide-open expert and intermediate runs. The Crest goes up the heart of the mountain and serves the many gentle beginner and intermediate trails that meander through the mountain's mid-section.

Millicent lift, farthest to your right, accesses the hairiest in-bounds terrain at Brighton, including the Elevator Shaft, a steep, narrow, rock-lined chute. You can also hike into the Wolverine Cirque backcountry from the top of this lift. For that matter, Brighton's backcountry is accessible from the top of all four peaks. But before you tour that terrain, make sure you have the proper skills, gear and a local to show you the way.
