Pro Finally, a Squad for the masses. Word of mouth about this powerful big-mountain Rossi has been building for a couple of years, but only the bros and pros could get their hands on it. Now anyone can enjoy this blend of classic Rossi smoothness and wide-body flotation. The Squad employs a laminate, vertical-sidewall construction, though the topsheet drapes over rounded top corners in a way that gives it a cap look and better durability. Metal reinforcement and a dense foam core provide calm dampness. And a flat, square tail gives it control and finishing power. But its real talent is maching through deep chop as if it were Deer Valley–groomed. "Silky smooth, with an ease of control," said Preston. "And plenty of rebound for such a big ski." Con Predictably, damp power comes at some expense of short-turn agility.
