Rossignol Pursuit 16 (2014)
The 16, with its 74 mm waist width, is built to make carved turns as accessible as possible with a slightly more forgiving construction than the Pursuit 18 and an even tighter sidecut radius (15.1 meters in the 170 cm length). Its laminates are similar to those in the 16, minus the aramide. Like the 18, the Pursuit 16 is built on a wood core, and it comes with the same 12-DIN TPX/Axial2 120 binding. Rossignol's Pursuit series comprises four models built expressly for high-performance carving on flat, firm snow. Waist widths range from 81 mm down to 70 mm. Constructions vary from the precise, powerful metal-reinforced laminate layup of the high end (Pursuit HP TI) down to the affordable Rossitop cap construction of the Pursuit 12 TI. All are built on wood cores, except the 12, which gets an economical composite core. All feature extra tight sidecut radii - from around 17 meters in the high-end models down to a radical 13.6 in the 12 - for ultimate carving performance. Subtle early rise in the tip - Rossi calls it Power Turn Rocker - is employed to smooth out terrain shocks and ease turn entries. H Technology - lengthwise relief cuts in the tips and tails of reinforcing laminates - softens torsional rigidity for an additional measure of forgiveness in turn entries and exits, making it easier for the skier to maintain fore-aft balance. All Pursuit models are sold with bindings.
