The new Savory 7 is similar to the top-of-the-line Star 7, but its narrower 106-mm waist width is designed to better serve those who don't ski as much powder, or just aren't ready for a 116 waist, or don't want to lug that much ski into the backcountry. Rossi positions it as the likeliest choice in its line for female AT skiers and offers a precut climbing skin to fit it ($150; the same one that is offered for the men's 106-mm Soul 7). Rossignol's 7 Series of women's freeride skis are built for adventurous women who ski lots of powder and seldom stick to beaten trails. Generous waist widths range from a powder-specific 116 (on the Star 7) down to 80 mm (on the Trixie park ski). All but the Trixie feature Rossi's Powder Turn Rocker, which blends 50 percent camber underfoot with aggressive rocker tip and tail for deep-snow flotation. Moving the widest parts of the sidecut closer to the foot (on the Star, Savory and Saffron) makes the tapered tip and tail looser and more maneuverable, easier to skid and control speed as needed in deep snow. Meanwhile, deep sidecut underfoot is designed to deliver surprising edge grip and hard-snow performance for skis so wide. As in the men's 7 Series skis, the high-end models (Star, Savory and Saffron) are classic vertical-sidewall laminate constructions with wood cores, though lighter-weight paulownia wood is used in the women's models. And like the men's skis, the top women's skis (Star, Savory only) feature Rossignol's new Air Tip technology, in which honeycomb patterns of air pockets in the tip and tail lighten the skis in those zones for better swing weight and enhanced pivotability. All models are sold flat.
