Salomon Shogun (2012)

Salomon Shogun (2012)

The Shogun is another successful returning model for Salomon, with a reduction in price from last year. The semi twintip is built for big-mountain versatility, with a 101 mm waist that tolerates hard snow and bumps reasonably well but prefers soft snow. It's a wood-core, double-monocoque (structural cap) construction, with a two-layer cap spanning edge to edge for enhanced power. Salomon's All-Terrain Rocker combines zero camber with a rockered tip, so it will be buoyant in soft snow and smooth-riding in rough terrain, yet still relatively responsive (given its width) on the groomed. Extra wide, reinforced edges are built to be extra durable. What's more, they're reinforced: strong polyethylene fibers are used to secure the two edges to each other across the width of the ski, to make it harder to rip one out. Pulse Pad technology-a strip of rubber over the edge-quiets vibrations.
