Salomon Siam N8 (2007)

Salomon Siam N8 (2007)

Pro Siam is the former name of Thailand. What that has to do with a women’s ski that’s exceptionally versatile in its turn shapes on groomed snow escapes us, but it can’t be easy thinking up new names every year. What is easy is having fun on this energetic, low-fat carver. Salomon equips it with an interface that has viscoelastic bumpers fore and aft to dampen shocks. Its geometry is Tornado-like, but a more forgiving single-wall cap construction and a lighter foam core take some of the edge off, and its binding moves forward. Its strength is an easy versatility of turn shapes—on soft or hard snow—underpinned by gutsy performance. "Energetic and fun, yet solid," said MacConnell. Con Too much for cautious intermediates.
