Salomon X-Max 130 (2014)
The X-Max 130 grew on our testers in its second year. Its lightweight frame sits close to the foot and leg for maximum feel and transmission, padded by a precisely fitted liner that mates the shell to the skier's body. The boot provides somewhat of a sizing conundrum. Testers felt the X-Max runs long enough-and roomy enough in the forefoot and toebox-for many skiers to drop down a size from their current boots. Testers also agreed that the Custom Shell process is one that should be undertaken. Period. Skied stock, the X-Max was described as predictable and strong-upright and relaxed for all-mountain tasking. Sized-down and cooked, testers were totally pumped about its stance and performance. Tester comments: "Very neutral stance and great feel underfoot. K.I.S.S. Good job." "Built for high performance skiing-be ready to rail."
