Salomon X-Wing Sandstorm (2008)
Salomon's sturdiest cap construction and a milled foam core combine to give the Sandstorm an easy, well-behaved feel. Testers favored other models for brute-strength power ripping, but welcomed the change of pace offered by a ski that is content to let the skier be in charge. Turns initiate with pleasing ease, flotation is excellent, and it won't overtax the ability or conditioning of those who don't get to ski every day the way some wide rides do. "Great powder ski for the masses," said Howard.
Best For
A relaxed attack in powder and crud.
Not For
Bringing a big mountain to its knees.
