Scott Santiago Mission (2007)

Scott Santiago Mission (2007)

Pro The surprise of the test probably shouldn’t have come as such a surprise. Scott, the Sun Valley company that introduced aluminum poles in 1958 and leads the world in goggle sales, debuts its ski in the U.S. this year, but its Swiss designers have had eight years of trial and error on the European market. The Mission—flagship of the line—blends power and agility with the sure-footedness of skis made by much more experienced brands. It’s a wood-core, vertical- sidewall construction with an unsinkably broad tip and far deeper sidecut than most skis in the category. Never wimpy, it never requires too much work, either. "Great-feeling ski," said Preston. "It’s got a nice girth that will float but also a silky smooth, nimble feel that will please anyone." Con Despite its sidecut, it’s averse to short turns.
