PARK CITY, UT Dec. 12, 2002 (USSA)--Olympic moguls skier Hannah Hardaway (Moultonborough, NH) underwent reconstructive surgery on her right knee Thursday and is expected to be off skis for a minimum of six months, U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Melinda Roalstad said.

Hardaway, who turned 24 Tuesday, was operated on by Dr. Lonnie Paulos at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Salt Lake City. Roalstad said the operation included full reconstructive surgery on her anterior cruciate ligament and repair of her medial collateral ligament and bilateral meniscus.

"Hannah will be non-weight-bearing for about six weeks because of the meniscus tears," Roalstad said, "and could be back on skis in six months."

A 2002 Olympian who had won two World Cup moguls events during the 2001 World Cup season and was runnerup in the moguls points last season, Hardaway injured her knee during training in Tignes, France, nearly two weeks ago before the first World Cup moguls contest of the season. She previously missed the 1998 and 1999 seasons following surgeries on her left knee.
