No matter which direction your skis take you in Switzerland's Jungfrau region, it's always there. The Eiger—at 13,036 feet—is one of the world's most storied peaks, celebrated in literature and film, but words and pictures can't convey its North Face and its overwhelming presence. It's what a mountain should be: colossal, forbidding and, above all, beautiful.
