PRO: The Vento (and the Attiva women's version) replaces the Rival series with a similar high volume fit. It excels at making room for bigger feet and calves, but the fundamentals of foot positioning are similar to those of the higher-priced Diablo series. That translates into strong scores in Steering Power and Lateral Response. The Vento is also similar to the Diablo in that its toe-box-like your toes-is asymmetrical across the front: There's more room for the big toe, which means you might fit in a snugger, more precise size. A rear spoiler, attached by Velcro and easy to adjust, does a nice job of tailoring the Vento's cuff height to suit the owner's preference. "The blend of friendly fit with solid lateral and rear support make it an effective, easygoing boot," says Gleason. CON: Not much ankle-heel retention for those with slender feet.
