Pro Like the AC4, the Allstar employs Völkl’s stoutest construction: wood core, two sheets of metal, Piston vibration-dampening interface and Double Grip (extra mass over the edges). It’s quick to the edge, and when it gets there, it’s strong, stable and predictable. That’s nice when you’re going as fast as these are meant to go, and this is first and foremost a race-bred, medium- to long-radius arc specialist. But unlike a lot of hard-snow carvers, it doesn’t forget to be fun. A category-leading score in Rebound Energy says a lot about its spunk and versatility, and 70 mm is just wide enough to be generally playful—even reasonably good in powder. Schoff likened it to "a Swiss Army knife: super versatile, does everything well." Con Moguls and short turns aren’t its strong suits.
