Volkl Amaruq (2013)
Each ski in Volkl's touring collection features a multi-layer wood core designed to be lighter than alpine models of similar dimensions. Dense ash is used for screw retention and stiffness in the binding area, while poplar is used elsewhere to allow for flex. The same climbing-skin system is also used across the collection. It consists of a skin precut to each specific model that attaches via a hole at the ski's tip. Volkl designed the 88mm-waisted Amaruq as a multipurpose touring ski that can also handle groomed, lift-served terrain. A "green" version, the Amaruq ECO, which uses environmentally friendly components, is also available.
