Volkl Fuego (2010)
Last year’s Fuego was the least forgiving in the category. This year, it’s the most. Thanks to a widened shovel and narrower tail (i.e., greater taper), the new Fuego rolls into turns and releases with ease. Testers loved the new feel: It has Völkl’s classic stability and edge-grip, yet it’s fun (“F-U-N,” wrote Lewis) and easy to ski. Is there really a speed ski that can do it all? The evidence is in the test cards. “Most versatile of the group,” Moscarella said. “Comfortable everywhere.”
