Not convinced the SL Race Stock would be the fastest ski in the test, testers nevertheless agree on this: It’s one of the most fun. For certain skiers with appropriate expectations, it can be a joy to freeski. The Völkl, which puts up its highest marks in Rebound Energy and Short Turns, loves to be ridden hard from one tight arc to the next. Yes, it’s exhausting, but exhilarating. The SL Race Stock, a product of pro-racing legend Bernie Knauss’s race room, makes little hills ski big, turns the iciest pitches into playgrounds, even holds its own in bumps. Howard calls it "quick, responsive, energetic, friendly."
