Volkl Tierra (2009)
This ski takes "cruising" liberally: It wants to move. A stiff tail powers strong arcs and lends a racy feel. But beware: The Tierra hungers for speed and hates to back down. It prefers long turns, and hesitates in small turns or skids. It's damp and smooth and hugs the snow. Testers gave it top marks in Stability at Speed, Crud and Hard-Snow Grip. Just don't expect to smell the flowers. "Burly, but manageable," said Howard. "Great choice for the stronger cruiser."
