Volkl Tiger Ten (2008)
Given the surprising forgiveness and adjustable power of the 12-Foot Power Switch (AME Speed), it’s hard to imagine why a cruiser would need anything else. Unless price is a consideration: The 10-Foot is available with the Power Switch ($1,450), but costs a few hundred less without it. Otherwise, the 10-Foot is predictably Völkl in its stability, edge-grip and love of speed. In fact, testers deemed it considerably more demanding than most skis in the Cruiser category—a product of its relatively narrow waist. It rewards skilled input, especially on harder snow, where it instills confidence. "Excellent edge-grip, but never that locked-in feeling of so many aggressive carvers," said Hochman.
Sticking to the groomers, high speeds, hard snow.
Moguls, spring mush or cruisers who spend a lot of time in "relax" mode.
