Every ski lodge worth the logs from which it's made should have a bar-a place that rocks briefly, but earnestly, for 90 après minutes every day. We love finishing a day at Michigan's Boyne Mountain by blasting down Hemlock, its toughest run, to the windows of the Snowflake Lounge-just like Stein Eriksen would have done in 1955. We click out and saunter to the bar-once elbowed by the likes of Billy Kidd and Spider. On stage, the Jelly Roll Blues Band cranks. We order up a Boyne Beer (with Stein on the label), sip and relax.
